When you are shopping online you need to be confident that your private
information will remain secure at all times. POLi treats the security and
wellbeing of your sensitive information as the utmost priority. By leveraging
the security and convenience of online banking, paying with POLi means that you
are not relying on a middleman to securely store your personal information
(e.g. credit card).
Once you initiate a transaction, POLi automatically validates the authenticity
of your selected online bank before opening it. Therefore you can proceed with
confidence knowing that unless it is a legitimate online banking website, POLi
will not open it.
At POLi we encourage our customers to be become educated about exactly what goes on
during an online transaction process. One of the key aspects that every online
shopper should develop is an understanding of digital certificates, which POLi
uses to ensure your information remains safe and to facilitate the exclusive
communication with your selected financial institution.
Basically a digital certificate is electronic evidence of the authenticity of a
particular website. When performing an online transaction you can check the
validity of the financial institution website in one of two simple ways;
-
Click on the Padlock: you can validate the certificate by double-clicking on
the padlock icon in the browser bar call, or
-
Click on the Page Using Your Right Mouse Button: this will open up a new small
window from which you select Properties. Once the Properties page is opened
simply click on the digital certificates button which will then pop up the
certificate details.
What should you look for? You can easily confirm that you are at a genuine
online banking site simply by checking the digital certificate, ensuring the
URL is correct and confirming that the site is HTTPS.
